The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance is seeing a rise of patients in local hospitals with respiratory illnesses.

Officials with the Healthcare Alliance say this month alone, the number of patients has jumped 11 per cent when compared to numbers from last year.

Among those in hospital, include children aged 6 or younger as officials say 14 patients have been admitted with influenza since Nov. 1. Of those admitted with influenza, seven have been children aged 6 or younger.

The Healthcare Alliance continues to urge residents to get their flu shot, stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and if you feel unwell, to stay home.
