The Huron County Chamber of Commerce is looking at next steps following funding to establish Succession Ontario.
Described as Ontario’s first business succession planning services hub, its being delivered by the Kingston Economic Development Corporation, offering tools and resources to support business owners to understand and plan ownership transitions by means of selling, buying or transferring.
Huron Business Centre Manager Brittany Wise says as part of Ontario’s SBEC network, the provide support for every stage of operation including purchase, growth, transition and succession.
Issues identified in rural Ontario of succession has shown as finding and financing the next owner can be a challenge, especially when the next generation has moved away.
