Huron County council is looking down at a 2024 budget with a 9.65 per cent tax increase.

The draft budget discussed on Wednesday saw Treasurer Michael Blumhagen talk through some issues which are carrying into 2024 for the county with public works, emergency services, housing and homes for the aged being the main reasons for the tax hike.

The potential increase would mean a jump of $91.72 for the county’s median residential property assessed at $213,000.

There are more budget meetings to be held including a special budget meeting on February 14th.

The 2024 budget is expected to be approved in March.
