Huron County Man Fined for Spearfishing Rainbow Trout

A Huron County man has been fined for unlawful fishing practices.

The man was found guilty of multiple offences related to unlawful fishing of rainbow trout including two counts of using a spear to fish, two counts of possessing a spear within 30 metres of the waters edge, two counts of fishing without a licence and one count of fishing during prohibited night hours.

The accused was fined $6000 and prohibited from fishing in Ontario for three years.

The man was caught on April 13th at 3am by Conservation Officers who was attempting to spear rainbow trout with investigation also finding the man trying to spear trout on April 12th and in other counts between March 12th-April 26th 2024.
