Huron County sees growth in Maple Producers during Pandemic

During the couple years of covid the County reports they saw about 3-4 more commercial maple syrup producers start up in Huron County bringing the total to around 15.

Maple Mania is currently underway in Huron County. It sees cafes & bakeries partner with maple syrup producers to prepare sweet treats with locally sourced maple-syrup.

There is also apple maple schnapps, sweet maple BBQ sauce and delightful candy being made as well.

Rick Sickinger, Economic Development Officer for Huron County says the maple industry locally is growing.

“During the couple years of covid we saw about 3-4 more commercial maple syrup producers start up in Huron County. So right now there are about 15 commercial maple syrup makers in Huron County.”

There will be opportunities to tour local sugar bushes on March 18th and 19th as well as local Blyth & Zurich Fire Departments holding Pancake breakfasts that weekend as well. More information is available from tasteofhuron.com.
