Literary scofflaws in Huron County will no longer be subject to fines for returning borrowed library materials late.
Starting January 1st, Huron County libraries are eliminating fines for overdue materials.
The County’s library board recently voted unanimously to end the practice.
Huron County libraries suspended issuing and collecting overdue fines since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They say by eliminating overdue library fines, this will further remove any barriers that residents have in accessing library services.
Fees, however, will continue to be levied for lost or damaged books and materials.
