The Township of Huron-Kinloss announced today that in honour of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II achieving 70 years in public service they held two tree-planting ceremonies.

Two English Oak trees, donated by local resident Richard Christy, were planted at the site of the former Whitechurch Hall and on the grounds of the Point Clark Lighthouse.

Christy says he took inspiration from the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, which is focused on enhancing the environment, sustainability and planting a legacy that will benefit future generations.

Queen Elizabeth II is the first British Monarch to celebrate the milestone, which occured on February 6th of this year.
