Huron OPP Investigating Sign Vandalism and Thefts

Police warn of serious punishment for theft and vandalism of street signs

Huron County OPP are looking into a mix of street sign thefts and vandalism across Central Huron and Morris-Turnberry.

This week OPP received reports of stop signs and other street signs being vandalized in Clinton, in addition to street signs being defaced, some others were stolen.

Up the road in Morris-Turnberry, OPP investigated reports of four road signs around B-Line Road and McLean Line being spray painted with offensive images and symbols.

One of the signs was also painted to look as if the speed limit was 80km rather than 50km max per hour.

Police are reminding residents, Mischief is willful destruction and damage of property and could carry a maximum prison term of up to 10 years if certain mischief actions lead to actual danger to life could be indictable and liable.
