The Huron County OPP is planning for an unsanctioned truck rally that may be heading to Goderich and Central Huron on Friday night.
Similar events in other areas resulted in numerous participants engaging in illegal acts including dangerous driving, impaired & stunt driving and other driving related offences.
Motorist should be aware that a driver can be charged with stunt driving on all roadways and areas open to the public including parking lots.
The offence includes, but isn’t limited to, two or more street racing vehicles, the driver of one vehicle chasing another, quick acceleration between vehicles, repeatedly changing lanes in an aggressive manner or burn outs.
The maximum penalties for stunt driving include a maximum fine of $10,000, six demerit points, 14-day vehicle impoundment, 30-day driver’s license suspension or a jail sentence of up to 6 months.
If road closures are needed, police will advise.
Anyone who observes any suspicious activity is encouraged to call police or 911 for emergencies.
