Huron County OPP has charged a Seaforth resident with a series of charges following a collision and fire Friday night just east of Goderich on Highway 8.

Officers responded to the scene on Friday at approximately 10:40pm and located a sedan that had caught fire after it collided with a shipping container parked off the highway.

Officers learned the driver had veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle before skidding off the roadway into the container.

Further to that, police learned just prior to that incident the same car had caused another crash as they were attempted to pass a car while traveling in Goderich.

A search for the suspect driver was setup with containment.

The suspect was located shortly thereafter with a 32 year old male of Seaforth charged with dangerous operation, impaired operation 80 plus, operation while prohibited, two counts of failure to report an accident, use of an unauthorized plate and driving without insurance.

The accused remains in custody and was scheduled for a Court date in Goderich today.
