The Kincardine Fire & Emergency Services Department took to social media with the message of ensuring households everywhere have working smoke alarms.

In the post the department says that we have to stop thinking we are smarter and better than situations like this. They add you cannot outsmart a fire and it will take any opportunity to grow and consume everything in it’s path, including your loved ones.

The message comes after a family of Five in Brampton perished in a house fire where there were no working smoke alarms.

They close by saying there have been more than 30 fire related deaths in Ontario already this year. Check your alarms. Are they exired? Do they need batteries.
