Some Kincardine residents are doing their part to help those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Sue Goetz and Sophie Pal are collecting goods that will be taken down to London on Friday where it will be shipped out to Poland and distributed to those fleeing the war-torn country.

Goetz says she first got involved when she saw a post on the Huron County Hub for Ukraine Facebook page.

Pal says she wanted to help as her ancestors escaped to Canada from Hungary when that country was invaded by Russia.

Goetz says the trip to London on Friday will be the last for at least ten days as the Ukrainian Centre in London sort out the tremendous amounts of goods that will be shipped out.
