It’ll be a big day in Goderich on June 14th who welcome back the Lancaster FM213 to town for the day.

On June 14th 1964 the Royal Canadian Airforce flew the retired Lancaster to Goderich where it was on display at the Royal Canadian Legion as a war memorial.

In 1977 it was then acquired by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton and restored then returned to the air 1988.

Goderich Lancaster Arrival 1964

Exactly 60 years since it arrived in Goderich the Lancaster makes its return to the Goderich Airport. Randy Carroll, President of the Goderich Legion says they hope to accommodate as many as they can given how popular this has been in the past.

“We are making our best efforts to make sure we’ve got parking available on site. The last time the Lancaster was in town or most events with the Lancaster when it gets out to fly because it isn’t very often there’s usually 2000-3000 people so we’re expecting a very busy day” said Carroll.

The Lancaster is scheduled to arrive at 10am on June 14th and depart on the 15th at 2pm.
