The United Way Perth Huron’s Social Research & Planning Council updated their Living Wage for the Region and it has seen an increase in what needs to be paid.

The Living Wage amount is calculated by adding up the cost of rent, buying nutritious food, factoring in transportation costs to get to work every day and sufficient living expenses for a family of 4.

They estimate a family of four with both parents working full-time for 35 hours per week and also take into account government transfers and deductions from their pay.

The Living Wage for the Perth-Huron Region now sits at $17.95 per hour.

Grey Bruce’s Living Wage (last calculated in November 2019) sits at $18.39.
