Local Goderich Youth Recognized with 2021 Ontario Junior Citizen Award

A Local Goderich youth has been recognized for her efforts in the community as a recipient of a 2021 Ontario Junior Citizen Award.

Alexa Yeo, 12, from Goderich is one of a dozen around the province who were recognized for making an impact in where they live with the award run by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association.

Alexa’s act that got her recognized was writing a song in honour of all of the frontline and essential workers and pairing with more than four dozen children across the province in it’s performance as a thank you to their brave efforts.

Her music was also used to raise awareness of another cause with her performing one of her songs during the Telethon for the Huron Residential Hospice back in the Fall of 2020.

Alexa’s nomination was supported by her Principal of her Continuing Education School,. Blessed Carlo Acutis, Aideen Moss.

There will be a virtual OCNA Awards Ceremony to recognize the dozen recipients of the Junior Citizen Awards on May 11th.
