Local Unemployment Rate Drops in May

The local unemployment rate dropped last month.

The monthly numbers from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board showed a half per cent drop in May to three per cent.

This update marks the lowest unemployment rate across Huron-Perth-Bruce and Grey since late 2022.

Across Ontario the unemployment rate rose last month sitting at 6.9 per cent.

Canada’s unemployment rate also rose in May to 6.2 per cent with the economy adding 27,000 jobs throughout the country last month.
