The Maitland Conservation Authority issued a Shoreline Condition Statement in Regards to water safety this afternoon.

They say with a series of low pressure systems forecasted to track through the Great Lakes region strong winds with associated wave action could possibly cause widespread erosion of both beaches and lakeshore bluff with the potential of bluff failure.

Minor flooding they say is possible in low lying coastal areas.

They say to stay back from breaking waves, away from top-of-bluff areas and that erosion may be delayed and occur at the bottom before the top.

The statement remains in effect until next Tuesday at 4pm.
