The Maitland Conservation Authority’s Flood Forecast Centre reissued their Flood Watch today.

They say due to the formation of ice jams last week and the potential for another rise in water levels, the watch was put back in place for the Lower Maitland River including Saltford and the mouth of the Nine Mile River in Port Albert.

They say it’s difficult to predict where ice jams will form and how long they will persist. Adding that a sudden drop in temperatures tonight may strengthen jams and prolong the situation until the next warmup.

The watch is set to remain in place until 4pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
