Man charged with arson in Walkerton apartment fire

A Brockton resident has been charged with arson in connection with a Walkerton apartment fire that displaced 20 tenants last month.

The blaze broke out on the afternoon of Dec. 1, and emergency service crews responded to find a fully engulfed fire the Bruce County owned housing facility.

There were no serious injuries reported at the scene.

The South Bruce OPP continued an investigation into the cause of the fire along with the Office of the Fire Marshall and as a result, charged a 26-year-old man from the area with arson.

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice as required to answer to the charge.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information contact them or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
