The Marine Heritage Festival was held over the weekend in Southampton and it saw lots of residents and visitors alike celebrate the area’s maritime history.

Events over the weekend included the perennial favourite cardboard boat races with lots taking part in the competition.

The Festival also saw a first ever butter tart war organized by the Chantry Island Cham-bettes which saw it being won by Carol Ann D’Andrea, with a very close second to Jackie Smith.

Judging was done by donation with taste testing from the public.

It saw nearly $800 raised going back to community projects.
