The artwork of Anishinaabe artist Jeanette Ladd was unveiled on Saturday at the Huron County Museum.
The artwork shared a rich history of indigenous culture with Ladd sharing her connection to Goderich nestled on the shore of Lake Huron which is deeply intertwined with the identity of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.
Ladd shared her piece breaking down the mural and the elements it surrounds.
“An Anishinaabe Kwe, we are the holders of the water, we protect the waters. She represents protection, she is connected to the sun which is connected to the moon which is connected to the stars. For everything to work in balance, all of those pieces have to be in harmony” said Ladd
Ladd says throughout her life she always was drawn to expressing her thoughts and experiences through art.
