This Sunday marks the National Day of Mourning.

The day which has been around since the 90’s marks those who have lost their lives and remember those who have been injured at workplaces around the world.

The day is marked by over 100 countries including in Canada.

Dave Trumble, Vice-President for Bruce County for the Grey-Bruce Labour Council says many workplace injuries which occur are mostly preventable and to never hesitate to refuse unsafe work.

“When that little voice in the back of your head says ‘I’m not 100% sure this is just right’ don’t hesitate, use your rights, exercise your rights that’s one of the big pushes this year to always make sure workers are exercising their rights and not be afraid to” said Trumble.

There are a few events to mark this day, one of which starting at 10:30am on Sunday at the Chesley Community Centre to talk about the Day or Mourning and discuss the steps to move forward.
