Meaford will see a new elementary school, coming off support from the province.
The provincial government is dishing out $19.9 million for the construction of the new school coming from the province’s Capital Priorities stream.
The new school will serve elementary aged students with the Bluewater District School Board providing 340 elementary spaces and 54 childcare spaces.
Bluewater District School Board Chair Jane Thomson says since the opening of the new GBCS almost five years ago, student enrollment pressure has continued to increase due to growth in the Meaford area. It’s expected this school will open in September 2029.
