Officer Bitten by Dog During Arrest

A Toronto man is facing charges after being caught in a stolen vehicle.

On May 20th at 7pm a Hanover resident reported a suspicious person parked in a black Dodge Caravan in the southwest corner of town.

Police were able to determine the vehicle was stolen from Grey Highlands which was later located parked on 7th Street near the Hanover Lawn Bowling Club with the suspect alongside 4 aggressive Bullmastiff dogs.

Officers tried to take the suspect into custody when he jumped into the back of the vehicle resisting arrest.

One of the officers was bitten by one of the dogs during the arrest. The officer was treated and later released from the Hanover hospital with minor injuries.

The 20 year old from Toronto was charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 and Resisting Arrest.

The accused will appear in Walkerton court at a later date.
