Opioid Related Deaths Drop 72 Per Cent in Grey County

Opioid related deaths have been reduced by 72 per cent in Grey County from 18 in 2024 to five in 2025.

Wrap around support and collaboration in local programming are helping play an active role in responding to the opioid crisis.

Supportive Outreach Services or SOS help support community members who are unhoused or precariously housed and suffer from mental health and addictions.

Year end data shows in Grey County there was 72 suspected opioid overdoses were reported last year, compared to 184 in 2024, a drop of 61 per cent.

Grey County Paramedic Chief, Kevin McNab says SOS may be the first point of contact providing basic needs and immediate care with the service providing a wraparound approach to providing care.
