OPP Advise to Have Emergency Kit Ready when Out Winter Driving

Police remind that Emergencies can Happen to Anyone

The Ontario Provincial Police issued a reminder to drivers who are heading out on the roads during unpredictable winter weather.

They advise that emergencies can happen to anyone. They add to be prepared and keep an emergency kit handy in your vehicle.

The items they recommend having in the kit include:

  • First Aid Kit
  • Ice scraper & brush
  • Washer fluid
  • Phone Charger
  • Blankets
  • Bottled Water
  • Jumper Cables
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Mittens, socks and hats
  • Road flares and Reflective Warning Triangle

They also add that if you are going on a longer road trip you should also have handy:

  • Collapsible snow shovel
  • Bag of sand or cat litter
  • Extra pair of boots
  • Sleeping bag
  • Extra food
  • Tire chains and tow strap
  • Handwarmers
