OPP Civic Day Long Weekend Traffic Campaign Results

From July 29, 2022, to August 1, 2022, officers paid close attention to what is called the “Big 4” casual factors of serious collisions on OPP patrolled roadways, and laid a total of 140 charges.

Over the Civic Holiday weekend, South Bruce OPP took part in a safety initiative.

Running from July 29, 2022, to August 1, 2022, officers paid close attention to what is called the “Big 4” causal factors of serious collisions on OPP patrolled roadways.

The Big 4 are: impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

During the initiative, South Bruce OPP laid 140 charges including:

  • 119 speeding charges;
  • 3 stunt driving – excessive speed charges; and
  • 2 motorists were charged with impaired driving.

Over the long weekend, South Bruce OPP also investigated 4 motor vehicle collisions.

Even though the initiative has ended, South Bruce OPP will continue to patrol roadways to help ensure the safety for all.
