January 13th marks AMBER Alert Awareness Day and OPP are reminding residents that its the use of Amber alerts which leads to lives saved.
Amber alerts are issued in the event of a child abduction and only done if its believed the child could be at imminent risk of bodily harm or death.
OPP say the issuing these alerts are not to be taken lightly as very specific guidelines need to be met including law enforcement believing the child under 18 years has been abducted, is in danger and enough descriptive information provider believed a broadcast alert can help in locating the child.
