Lambton County OPP has released the identity of the person who died after being pulled from the water in Lake Huron near Ipperwash Beach.
36-year-old Michael Shawnoo was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday.
He and another unidentified individual were out canoeing when it capsized sending both into the water that morning.
OPP along with Kettle and Stoney Point Fire Department, Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services, Canadian Coast Guard, United States Coast Guard, Lambton Emergency Medical Services, and members of the community came to the aid of the two occupants around 11.
The other victim was treated for serious injuries and later released.
Investigators are still looking into the incident and are asking any witnesses to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
