Huron County OPP has a message for teens and pre-teens engaging in a trending online challenge dubbed “Devious Licks” that encourages them to damage and steal property while filming the event.

Huron OPP Community Safety Officer James Stanley say these types of challenges will land the perpetrator in trouble whether it be a school suspension, damage to online reputation or potentially criminal charges. They urge parents that if they have a student at home that is on social media and following the trends they should have a conversation about the implications of getting involved with it.

Huron County OPP suspect this challenge was the motivation behind a recent incident that took place at Bannister Park in Goderich. Sometime overnight between October 2nd and 3rd unknown persons destroyed the men’s and women’s washrooms. The damage is estimated at $3,000. There have also been cases of other washrooms damaged recently as well as several picnic tables destroyed and the pavilion tagged with graffiti and signs stolen.

Huron OPP is asking the publicĀ  for assisting in solving these mischief incidents. If you know anything about the cases or similar incidents please contact the Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
