The Owen Sound Police have charged a 42-year-old female of no fixed address after Police received reports yesterday of her going store-to-store attempting to get cash donations.
She was claiming to act as a employee of the City and requesting donations to benefit the family of Sharifur Rahman, who was the victim of a homicide outside his restaurant in August.
Police say thanks in large part to the cooperation of several business owners, they were able to secure evidence and identify the person responsible for the fraud.
She faces charges of fraud, false pretenses, theft and possession of property obtained by crime. She is set to appear in court in October.
