Grey-Bruce OPP is using Fraud Prevention Month to highlight the grandparent scam, one of the heaviest hitters for locals.
OPP say they have seen an increase in the number for calls for service on the scam where criminals look for victims online who are single or recently unattached most often through dating websites and social media platforms.
OPP warn people to avoid revealing any personal information online and to double check the persons name, company or address and to never send money or financial information to somebody you haven’t met.
