Province invests 259 Million to Transform GM Oshawa and CAMI Ingersoll Factories

The investment, they say, will pave the way for GM's first EV production line in Ontario in Ingersoll and the continuation of vehicle production in Oshawa.

The Province announced today that in support of a more than $2 billion dollar investment by General Motors of Canada they are offering a grant uof up to $259 million in support to transform the company’s Oshawa and CAMI manufacturing plants in Ingersoll, as well as improvements across all of GM’s manufacturing and R&D across the province.

The investment, they say, will pave the way for GM’s first EV production line in Ontario in Ingersoll and the contniuation of vehicle production in Oshawa.

The overall investment will see the addition of light-duty Chevy Silverado pickup production and a third shift at the Oshawa plan, creating more than 2600 new, local automotive jobs since operations resumed at the plant.

The investment also secures electric commercial vehicle production at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, becoming GM’s designated EV hub for it’s new all-electric commercial vehicle brand BrightDrop.
