The Ontario Government has launched Skilled Trades Ontario, a new agency to improve trades training and simplify services.

Labour Minister Monte McNaughton hopes this helps make the process of joining the trades easier.

“They are going to promote and market the skilled trades, develop the latest training and curriculum standards as well as provide a streamlined and one window approach for premises to register and do exams.”

The new agency hopes to help reduce the skilled labour shortage and reduce processing and registration times for applications from 60 days to 12.
