Province sets deadline for licence renewals

Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation is reinstating renewal requirements for various MTO products.

The notice affects drivers licenses, license plate stickers and health cards.

Residents with cards that would have expired on or after March 1st of 2020 but had them extended indefinitely now have until February 28th of 2022 to get them renewed including drivers licenses, license plate stickers, Ontario photo cards and health cards.

Heavy commercial vehicle owners need to renew their vehicle validations by the end of this year.

Those in the graduation licensing program of G1, G2, M1 or M2 will have until the end of next year to re qualify for or upgrade their novice drivers license.

Those renewing from a deferral will need to pay for the previous year as well as the current year renewal fee.

In-person requirements for the renewal of various licenses has been waived temporarily to allow them to be renewed online at serviceontario.ca.
