With November marking Fall Prevention Month in Canada, Grey Bruce Public Health is working on raising awareness on the potential impacts of falls and sharing fall prevention tips.

Falls can happen at anytime and can significantly affect both physical and mental health of individuals and have life altering consequences.

In Grey-Bruce the age standardized rate of emergency department visits due to falls is the 2nd highest in Ontario public health units and around 1.5 times greater than the provincial average.

Public health says its important to get regular exercise to boost balance, strength and flexibility, get enough sleep, taking your time and not rush and consider using a cane or other mobility device as needed.
