If you’re struggling to pay your rent, the government is providing low-income renters with some level of support.
A one time payment, tax free of $500 is available so long as your income and the amount you pay on rent meet the requirements.
Qualifications include having an adjusted family net income in 2021 of $35,000 or less for families and $20,000 or less for individuals.
The $500 federal boost is part of the existing Canada Housing Benefit program to help those cover the cost of rent as the price jumps nationwide.
