Work on replacing the railway tracks at the crossing on Highway 8 in Goderich is having some unintended consequences.

The road is closed in both directions until Wednesday and one of the businesses affected is the Tim Horton’s location in front of Walmart.

That is where sales of the Smile Cookie was to go to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation in their effort to purchase two bassinets (at a cost of $24,000) for the nursery.

Foundation Executive Director Kimberley Payne says the road construction is not the only hurdle they are facing.

Payne says they are reaching out to donors in hopes they will be able to help them cover any shortfall in fundraising.

She says those who place their cookie order at the Tim Horton’s on Highway 8 in Goderich or to kimberley.payne@amgh.ca will be entered in a draw for a $50 TimCard.
