Some details are emerging from the sale of the Wiarton-Keppel International Airport.

The Township of Georgian Bluffs announced on Friday that the airport was sold to Clayton Smith for $2.6 Million.

Smith also purchased the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Airport earlier this month for $1.5 Million.

In a statement, Smith, who is an experienced pilot, airport operator, and aviation business owner says he hopes to restore, revive, and expand the airport with some capital investments.

The Township declared the airport surplus in September and began the process of selling it.

The deal officially closed on Friday.

More details of the sale is expected to be released when staff presents a report to Council sometime in the new year.
