The Saugeen Ojibway Nation Joint Chiefs and Councils say the results of South Bruce’s DGR vote does not affect their ongoing evaluation of the NWMO’s proposal to build a DGR in their territory near Teeswater.

Saugeen Ojibway Nation says they will continue to thoroughly examine the potential impacts and benefits hosting such a project could have on their territory and the people through their own independent process.

The Joint Chiefs and Councils statement adds they will continue to work with the NWMO in good faith and ensure mutual commitments in this regard are upheld.

The path forward for them say will be determined by what is best for the people, territory and future, guided by the input and direction of their members.
