Last week the province rolled out over 100 municipalities to be granted strong mayor powers, though not every Mayor is on board with the decision.
These powers allow heads of council to propose bylaws and pass them with support of one third of councilors, veto bylaws as well as hire and fire department head.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau says this legislation sidelines elected members of council with respect to certain important matters.
Charbonneau adds its crucial for the people of the community to be consulted before these major changes to the structure of your municipal government are advanced.
