Saugeen Shores Police investigating Bush Parties from May 27th to 29th

Officers from the Saugeen Shores Police Service are investigating incidents related to unsanctioned events in bush areas and public parks occurring from May 27th to 29th.

Several incidents including assaults, weapons, underage drinking and persons in distress were reported to police.

An ongoing criminal investigation has resulted from these incidents. Police provided no further information about the events due to the age of the offenders.

Police say “Bush Parties” or “Bushers” have been considered by many as a “right of passage” in Saugeen Shores. They advise that no young person should be exposed to violence or be in any form of distress due to over consumption of substances while experiencing a “right of passage”

Police ask parents or guardians to have an honest discussion over the risks associated with attending these parties.
