The Saugeen Shores Police recently conducted active enforcement of the Provincial “Move Over Law” from February 27th to March 3rd.

The law requires motorists to slow down and move over when passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck stopped roadside with its emergency lights on.

It also requires them to pull over and stop when being overtaken or approach a moving emergency vehicle with lights illuminated, if safe to do so.

In the 5 days of the campaign, officers stopped at least 43 vehicles for other violations. No violators of the “Move Over Law” were observed by officers.

Police thank Saugeen Shores for keeping paramedics, fire fighters, tow operators and police safe.
