Saugeen Shores Police reminded drivers that under Ontario’s zero tolerance law for young, novice and commercial drivers you cannot have any alcohol in your system if you are aged 21 years or younger, are a driver who holds a G1, G2, M1 or M2 license, are a driver of a vehicle requiring an D-F driver’s license or commercial vehicle registration or are driving a road-building machine.

The penalties under the law include a 3-day immediately license suspension, fines of between $60 to $1,000 if convicted, and a $250 penalty.

Second time infractions see the license jump to 7 days and 30 days for a third time. Fines increase as well.

Once convicted your license can be suspended for an additional 30 to 90 day or cancelled as well depending on your age and class of license you have.

There are also license reinstatement fees as well.
