The Saugeen Shores Police advised that from February 27th to March 3rd officers will be conducting traffic enforcement focused on drivers who fail to observe the “Move Over Law”.

Police say one of the most dangerous functions they do is conducting traffic stops on busy highways.

In the last year Saugeen Shores Police have lost one vehicle that was struck while it was stationary on the roadside during a roadside stop.

Elements of the law include pulling as close to the right side when stopped but don’t block the shoulder, if at an intersection don’t pull to the left but go through intersect and stop to the right, on one-way streets pull to the left, and when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle slow down and pass with caution.

If a road has two or more lanes you must leave a lane of space if safe to do so.
