The Town of Saugeen Shores saw the grand opening of a Cricket Grounds at Biener Park in Port Elgin yesterday.

The site was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the estate of a former Port Elgin cricket player.

The improvised facility was made possible by a $10,000 donation from Jennifer Frayne and Lauren Eudoxie, in memory of their parents Peter and Brenda Eudoxie.

It means that the over 150 members of the Saugeen Shores Cricket Club now have a place to call home.

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between 2 teams with eleven players on the field.

The sport has greatest popularity in South Asia, Australia, the UK, South Africa and the West Indies.
