The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has issued a Water Safety Statement yesterday that will remain in effect until Wednesday.

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms were part of Saturday’s forecast and while significant flooding is not expected, water levels in rivers could overflow their banks, with potential flooding in low-lying areas.

More extensive flooding is possible should the area receive more rain than what is presently forecast.

The Conservation Authority warns recreational river users to take extra precautions, as higher water levels and faster flows are expected to develop for the next 72 hours.
