The Saugeen Conservation advises that forecast precipitation, unseasonably warm temperatures and associated snowmelt are likely to result in higher-than-normal water levels across the watershed over the next few days.

Daytime highs of plus 5 degrees accompanied by 10 to 20 mm of rain will liekly melt most of the snowpack and increase potential for runoff.

Snow surveys conducted on Thursday revealed between 25 and 65 mm of water currently held in the snowpack.

While significant flooding is not expected, rivers could reach or exceed bank full conditions, with minor flooding in traditional low-lying areas.

The ground is not frozen so there is some potential for infiltration across the watershed which may alleviate minor flooding.

The outlook remains in place until Monday, January 2nd at noon.
