With summer fast approaching and the beaches along Lake Huron soon to be full of residents and visitors there are reminders that the water fun comes with risks; such things as underwater rip currents.
The Municipal Innovation Council in Port Elgin is launching a first-of-its-kind pilot project at Station Beach in Kincardine next week. It will see an integrated sensor network deployed to give highly accurate, real-time local beach forecasts on rip current conditions, rough surf & dangerous areas to avoid.
The Project launches on Wednesday, May 25th.
Dr. Chris Houser, team member on the project, will be on-site starting at 11:00am.
