Smart Beach Pilot Project Launches Next Wednesday at Station Beach in Kincardine

First-of-its-kind project will see an integrated sensor network deployed to give highly accurate, real-time local beach forecasts on rip current conditions, rough surf & areas to avoid.

With summer fast approaching and the beaches along Lake Huron soon to be full of residents and visitors there are reminders that the water fun comes with risks; such things as underwater rip currents.

The Municipal Innovation Council in Port Elgin is launching a first-of-its-kind pilot project at Station Beach in Kincardine next week.  It will see an integrated sensor network deployed to give highly accurate, real-time local beach forecasts on rip current conditions, rough surf & dangerous areas to avoid.

The Project launches on Wednesday, May 25th.

Dr. Chris Houser, team member on the project, will be on-site starting at 11:00am.
